Youth Service
The youth take charge one Friday night each month for the “Light the Fire” youth service. They do everything from the prayers, songs, scriptures, skits, offering and sometimes even the preaching. Come on out for an exciting time on the fourth Friday of each month.
Divine Daughters of Destiny and Sons of the Saviour
Divine Daughters of Destiny (DOD) and Sons of the Savior (SOS)
This time is set aside for youth from pre-teen and up. They participate in youth Bible studies, field trips, community service and interactive lessons on dating, etiquette, grooming, etc. These meetings are held monthly on the third Saturday at 4 p.m.
Youth in Learning – Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.
First and Second Tuesday - Bible study
Youth learn the Bible and how to study the Bible.
Third Tuesday - Youth Service Preparation
Youth prepare for the “Light the Fire” youth service.
Fourth Tuesday - Youth Choir Rehearsal
The youth sing on the last Sunday of each month during the 11 a.m. morning service and during some “Light the Fire” services.
Youth Usher Board
The youth learn skills to become the best ushers they can be.
Sunday School
In 2010, the youth will learn all of the major characters and events of the New Testament through an exciting new curriculum called “Stick Figuring Through the Bible”. They will be taught using multiple learning styles to help increase retention and improve learning. They will not only hear the lesson, but see it drawn using colorful stick figures as they also do the drawings in their student books.
Drama
The youth department performs several dramas or programs throughout the year. They do a Black History Month Program, Resurrection Program and a Christmas Program.
Vacation Bible School
This fun-filled, week long summer camp energizes everyone with teaching, crafts, music, food and ends with a BBQ and bounce houses. This year’s curriculum will focus on apologetics which teaches our youth to defend their faith.
Annual Youth Revival
The youth participate in an annual Back-to-School Youth Revival each year in August in preparation for returning to school. All of the youth are given school supplies to help them start out on the right track.
Fall Festival
This third annual festival includes games, prizes, activities, food and lots of fun. October is the coolest month for this outside activity.
Annual Youth Camp
Each year we take the youth to camp for a fun-packed, word-filled weekend. The youth enjoy hayrides, games, music, conversation, and a time of bonding with one another.
